Busted: Shaving does not change Skin Color or Texture: Day 15 of My Shaving Experince
Hi girls!!
I posted
about this even which Gillette Venus had on 21st of August and even before
that I have been using the Gillette Venus razor. I got my hamper
containing not only this Gillette Venus Razor with cartridges, I also got this Gillette
Satin care gel with aloe vera.
This is the
day 15 that I am continuously using this and will be sharing my experience. I
had said many times that this razor is perfectly designed to be used by women
and is a safe and easy way to get smooth unwanted hair free skin, but there
are some of us who think that shaving regularly changes the skin color, hair
texture or hair color in anyway.
MYTH 1: Shaving can Alter Hair Texture
So, really
shaving can do all that. The answer is a big No. It’s a Myth that shaving will
change the color of your skin or it will darken the skin
color. Or shaving can make the hair coarse and thicker or even make the skin
patchy.
Shaving can
never alter the texture and growth of the hair since this cuts the hair only from above the surface and
does nothing else to them. You may feel that the hair is coarser since the top most
part is cut. The hair has a tapered shape so when the top upper part is cut you
many feel that this makes the hair thicker which it has not beacuse you are just
looking at the stub left behind when the hair grows back.
I observed this with in the 15 days I subscribed to the challenge. But the truth is that I have
been using this method for so many years. In between, yes, I do get the waxing
done but when I am in rush and have no time to go to a salon, then there is nothing
as easy as shaving to get rid of the unwanted hair strands. And I know a lot girls out there will agree on this. :)
MYTH 2: Shaving can alter the skin color
The second
myth associated with shaving is that this can change the color or darken the skin.
Shaving in fact gets rid of the upper most dead skin layer along with the hair
stands and a new fresh brighter skin layer is revealed. Our skin can get darker when
you just leave the house without using sunscreen, thus no way shaving is to be
blamed for that. The new skin layer which gets revealed after the gentle exfoliation by shaving is more
likely to get sun damaged and sun tanned regardless of whether you have shaved scrubbed or waxed. As long as you are using sunscreen when you face the sun, shaving can never change your skin color.
So, girls,
if you really had those myths and doubts then throw them out of the window. :) and try using this method
of hair removal. By the way, it totally depends on which hair removal method you
choose but if you were just escaping from shaving due to these Myths, which are
myths only, then go ahead and try.
I will also
suggest using a foaming or shaving gel that gives a closer shave and helps in
making the skin smooth further like this Gillette Satin care that I am using currently. Yow know my brother also used this quietly and I happened to noticed that :D

I have never used razor on legs or arms, at times underarms but now I am completely against shaving
ReplyDeleteI find shaving the best for last minute hair removals. But scrubbing shaved areas is important. I have skipped this in the past and now I have ingrown scars.
ReplyDeleteRazor seems like an easy way to get rid of unwanted hair but the results are not long lasting.. At least in my case!
