Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 2 Review and Swatches

Review: Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 2

Hey Girls!!
Ever since Maybelline Pink Alert lipsticks were launched in India, I was damn eager to try them out. Entirely because of their 4 delicious, stunning pink shades. The four shades have been named as Pow 1, Pow 2, Pow 3 and Pow 4. In spite of all the 4 shades being pink basically, there is variation seen in their undertones. Out of all four, I opted for POW 2.
Maybelline Pink Alert Lipsticks are priced at 375 rupees, same as the bold mattes.

Experience: Maybelline Pink Alert Lipsticks have the typical Color sensational packaging with rectangular caps but these are more vibrant. The pink alerts lipsticks have pink caps and the shade name has been given at the very bottom of the tube. I will give the packaging full points, though I still feel that the name pink alert that is written on that plastic sheet around it, I would have preferred that it would have been embossed on the cap itself to add more beauty. Enough of their packaging saga, moving on to the lip color itself.

Pink alert lipsticks can be described as creamy, moisturizing and with subtle glossy sheen with a good opaque pigmentation. It required me to swipe it twice to attain the full intense and rich looking color. If you’ll notice the arm swatch, there is a glossy sheen to the lip color.
Pink alert in POW 2 is a true fuchsia color or I should say it’s a pink with slight blue tones. It looks very similar to Nyx round Lipstick in Louisiana which too was a blue based hot pink.
POW 2 or any blue based pink, is a color that can look good on most of the skin tones, if the intensity with which they are applied can be taken care of or adjusted as per the skin tone. These colors have a fantastic tendency to brighten up the face instantly.
During the day time, it can be a tad too bright if sported in its true intensity. That’s why I like to keep it subtle, by dabbing some of it on my lips, like a stain.

Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 2 Review, price, Swatches

It has a creamy glossy texture which is quite moisturizing and I noticed that I do not require lip balms that often while I am wearing this except for once when I felt my lips are getting flaky.

On my lips, it stays for 4 hours without fading though after meals it fades with a rosy pink tint left behind. Considering its texture, the staying power is good. There was slight bleeding that I had to take care of by using a lip liner in pink before applying this lipstick though that is not necessary as I said bleeding is not much. I have wore this without the lip liner too a couple of times. My favorite way to use this is as a stain.

Pros of Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 2:
Price
Packaging
Creamy texture
Glossy finish
Moisturizing
Ingredients mentioned
Good pigmentation
Rosy tint after it gets wiped off

Cons of Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 2:
Slight bleeding

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Take: Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 2 is a creamy , rich looking blue based pink that can look nice on most of the skin tones. Its good pigmentation gives an opaque finish which also allows you to wear it as a stain or in its full intensity with a soft glossy finish that tends to make lips fuller. Right from the packaging to staying power, it truly justifies its price. I liked this range. It will be a treat for pink lipstick lovers without shelling out too much and out of the four shades, I am sure there would be a perfect pink for you as all the shades have a bit of neony hues in them.
