2013: Favorite and Popular Products Round up

The year 2013 passed really quickly, even quicker than I imagined. Thanks to the blog. I was on a short leave cum not in posting mood, wanted to unwind. It was kind of hibernation when all you want to do is sleep, do some other work, then sleep again, for that weather here in the capital is also to be blamed. So, now as I am back to business, I thought of starting this year officially (since I was posting only press releases) by posting a rounds up/favorite/ popular products post.
In the previous year too brands came up with lots of new products, some of which sold like hot cakes while others couldn’t manage to win masses hearts rather gave almost heartache when prices were disclosed and the ache kind of worsened, when it comes from the very own desi brand which is no longer a drugstore brand with their latest line! You know it!!
By the way, did you make new year’s resolutions, I am sure most of you would and those who make resolutions every year may have made an extra resolution of not breaking the resolutions at all. lol. I am one of them.

Okay, so brace yourself we are moving on with the products.

Maybelline Color show nail paints
They were amongst the latest new launches from Maybelline, launched in October 2013, and completely stole the show with their colorful play and so many gorgeous shades to choose from, I have seen people getting the entire collection of 40 shades. So what made them so popular? It was undoubtedly the range of shade selection and the price. At mere 75 bucks you can have these. My favorite is their one coat wonder called Bold gold.

Lakme Total Clean up scrub
This recent clean up range from Lakme has the extracts of green tea and definitely have been proved a savior for oily to combination skin/sensitive skin. Its granules as fine as salt crystals making this a perfect gentle everyday scrub that can actually make your skin smoother. Reviewed Here

L’Oreal Glam shine gloss balm
Last year we have seen majority of brands coming up with crayon stick like lip products, nonetheless such lipsticks can be easy to carry and use!
Revlon, Bourjois, L’Oreal and even our Lakme came up with pop tints with price which I could not swallow as I would rather go for high end lip product by adding extra bucks to it. But there was one brand that also came up with Balmy gloss on the same idea of lip crayon for only 400 bucks though with four shades to choose from being the only downside. Reviewed Here

Lakme 9 to 5 Lipsticks
Now, I have to say, if you are a matte lover then do try a shade from this range. Some of them do have slight shimmers but that can be negligible. They feel light on the lips and gives great intense color. Most of this range’s shades are subtle and suitable for Indian skin tones. They are worth the money lipsticks. See Here

Nyx Studio Perfect Photo Loving Primer
This silicone based primer came as a savoir for my combination skin in summers. Its capability to keep skin matte for a longer time made me its fan. It isn’t expensive if you buy it from U.S sites but here it is priced at 2400 INR. Crazy it is!!! I know! Reviewed Here

MUA Fashionista Blushes
This year (Makeup Academy) MUA also launched their new line FASHIONISTA line of makeup and I just loved the shades of blushes they have to offer, there are lots of beautiful color and even a fierce red. I got two for myself and absolutely love these. By the way they are mostly mattes. Reviewed Here

Maybelline Cheeky glow Blush
When it comes to drugstore brands in India, It seems since ages, we didn’t have any choice of good matte blushes. I mean there were affordable faces Canada blushes but they were full of chunky shimmers though with the launch of Maybelline Cheeky glow blushes in three shades at only 225 buck, kind of filled that void. Now the beginners who are thinking of building up their basic make up collection can go for them! By the way, if you are on a dusky side, go for creamy cinnamon, it looks amazing!! Review Here

Rimmel London Compact powder
This year Rimmel too came to India and online it was available on Slassy.com. This compact looks filmsy but nonetheless is a great to have compact for oily skin with light weight texture. See here.

Pond’s BB cream
This is one such product that had won my heart as getting the right base is really difficult and to blend it is even more difficult. When this whole BB cream phenomenon was there and I, who have tried every brand that launched BBs at that time, found out that this can be a go to product for those, who don’t want much coverage. Even then it is available in only one shade, prominent yellow tones in the pigment of this cream was able to match a lot of India skin tones supposedly. Moreover, it wasn’t as greasy as others which earned it some extra brownie points for oily skinned people. Reviewed Here

120 Professional Eye shadow palette
Someone who is inclined towards eye shadows cannot have a better gift for herself than a palette like this. Trust me finding the right shade from the tiny duos and quads wasn’t fun but this palette has actually made my job simpler by providing me with gradient of an individual color, with different textures from pearly to mattes. Now, I don’t feel like buying any more eyes shadows. Honestly!! Earlier, I thought, I will buy this similar palette from Bh cosmetics but before that I stumbled upon this from a site called buyincoins and thankfully, it turned out to be really good and safe, keeping in mind I am a contact lens user! Soulflower Baby your skin soap
It’s a soap that can test your temptation and resistance not to eat it, it smells so damn yummy and makes skin so soft and clear that I had to order two more of these. And it’s not just me, anyone from my family who have used it, loved it a lot. As in A LOT!!! . Read the review here

Lakme Quartet
Okay I will admit, even if I love eye makeup, I have not used these palettes, reason, I ignored them. I rather had faces, chambor, La colors, MUA etc. It’s just I got this and then I realized how wonderful product it is and has got some of the very beautiful Indian neutral colors that are insanely pigmented. I would really recommend these palettes. They are worth every penny spent!! Don’t believe me see the swatches here.
