Rimmel London Stay Matte Compact Pressed Powder Review

Rimmel London Stay Matte Compact Powder Review

Hi everyone!

If you are an oily skinned beauty then you may know how important compacts can be to mattify and keep the skin matte throughout the day. I will review this Rimmel London stay matte compact which was launched along with their other products in India.
I was really surprised by how affordable their prices were in INR and this compact was on my mind for quite a long time but bad luck would hit me everytime I would go to buy it, as the shades lighter and darker were available and my shade was always out of stock. At last I got it a couple of weeks ago. Feels really good when you get something you have been after for quite a long time! :D
If you are wondering where to buy these online, then you can check Slassy.com, Rimmel London cosmetics are available on their site. It was earlier 190 INR but now the price says 230, I can imagine why that is, as ever since this range was launched in India they were selling like hot cakes. :D and also an imported product so cheap and affordable deserves that. Isn’t it?

They have got one more shade I think, which is Translucent, I really wanted to try that one, but it isn’t available in India as of yet. So, I got Sandstorm 004 for me. It was an online purchase but thankfully the shade matched my face color perfectly. Happy me!!

It comes with  a transparent Lid and beige colored body. It looks okay but isn’t classy though. However, the actual product makes it a star. Before telling you about the powder itself, you may have seen that it lacks a puff. I like using my compact with puff while I am touching up and while I am getting ready, I sweep it across using a powder brush or a kabuki.  Like both the ways but using a powder brush can give a more natural and even finish which I like but it kind of takes extra seconds as compared with the puff!

This Pressed powder has a very light and smooth texture which just dissolves flawlessly in the skin without making you look made up or anything like that. I am someone who doesn’t want heavy coverage as I am more into sheer light coverage so that my skin can feel and look like skin, I don’t mind even if some occasional pimple marks are shining through unless there is a grand ceremony to attend. :D

So, at times I will use a sunscreen and only this compact. By the way, you may not have noticed as the camera failed to reveal the fact that it has very tiny shimmer particles in it. Now, Don’t raise your brow, if you are not a fan of shimmers as the shimmers in this is very finely milled and is hardly visible but it does help creating a subtle glow when the particles reflects light and at the same time compact makes your skin matte.
I am using it all the time since I got it and love its light texture. But one thing here, it does not control oil for so long, as in your skin will start secreting oil within 2-3 hours. Other than that it is a steal at the price.

It’s so cheap and affordable that I will suggest it to everyone and also there are so many shades to choose from, that you won’t need an excuse not to try it out! Still if you want something similar as in the light weight texture. I would suggest try Revlon Touch and Glow Moisturizing compact and even our desi brand Lakme has 2 such compacts at very low price which I have tried and genuinely liked them.

Time for the good and the bad for the Rimmel pressed powder.

Pros
It is very affordable.
Available on slassy.com or Rimmel London counters.
They have got 7 shades to choose from so, I am sure there is one shade made to match your skin tone perfectly.
Full list of ingredients is mentioned at the back of the pan, so check if you are allergic to any one of the mentioned ones
Packaging is okay not bad at all.
It is safe and suitable for everyone and has not break me out or given me any comedones as a complimentary gift.
Light weight texture that blends so effortlessly that you feel you don’t have anything on.
Very fine shimmery light reflective particles that add a subtle glow without even visible to the eyes.
At the price the quantity is huge; it has 14g in it.

Cons
Lacks a puff so, you can use a powder brush or a separate puff to use it.
It only control oil for 2-3 hours at a max.

Rating- 4 out of 5

Take- Here’s a Compact Pressed powder from Rimmel London that is not only affordably cheap but also gives you 7 shades to choose from. It’s light weight formula and barely visible shimmers makes it a perfect everyday product which has proved itself worthy of the money spent on it, thereby making it a worth trying compact!

  10. The price is quite a catch. I will have to buy online because this brand has disappeared from our market. I am a big fan of compact for the sheer touch.

  23. I have dry skin with oily t-zone and powders make me look patchy and drier. But I wanted to try a very finely milled one without spending a fortune. I have no probs with the subtle shimmer and I liked how it showed up in the the blended swatch. Thanks. I will check this one out :)

    1. I know dear, most of the compacts absorb oil and that is why dry skin gets even more dry. If you want a finely milled one then give it a try or Revlon touch and glow. I think Revlon would fare better for you.
      :) Thank you Gagan!
