Manicure at home with 8 easy steps

Easy manicure at home: You should try, manicure steps.
Hey Everyone!!
Our hands take a lot during the day and can be easily under the scanning. How often do you go in for a manicure in a saloon or spa? Well! I don’t as I do it myself at the comfort of my home and without spending a penny on it.
There are a lot of the procedures that you can do it yourself, getting equal results as done by a professional and manicure at home is one of them.

There are some predefined steps that professionals do and you may have read about it but I would like to share what I do so that those of you want to do manicures yourself can be helped!

You will need-
Nail polish remover

Cotton balls/pads

Lemon

Sugar

Honey

Buffer block

Nail file or nail cutter

Step 1- First of all, you should start by getting rid of the old polish and for this, you can take a cotton ball and soak it with some nail polish remover. Try to gently clean off the old polish. You may notice some yellowness on the nails due to the old nail paint hence it is also important to leave your hands without any nail paints at times.

Step 2- With the help of a nail file, you can shape your nails in the desired shape, if you want to reduce the length then do trim them with the nail cutter first and then file the harsh edges, else using a filer to reduce the length isn’t the best idea. For the nail shape, you can choose square, oval, round or pointed! Mine are round as it is the easiest to maintain and looks good on all the types of finger shapes

Step 3- After removing the old polish and shaping your nails you need to take a bowl with warm water and squeeze a lemon into it in a same way you get in restaurants to clean your hands once you had your dinner.  But here you should take a bowl that could accommodate both of your hands till the wrist without spilling water outside else it will be a mess.  Put your hands in the bowl for 10 minutes and let the warm water loosen up the dead skin and cuticle. Lemon juice in the water helps removing tan on the knuckles and the yellowness on the nails.

Step 4- Now, that our hands are ready for the scrubbing, you need to make a scrub by mixing some honey with sugar. If you wish you can use the ready made ones.  I have used both and for me it depends on the mood and availability though I prefer organic honey with sugar more! Feeling lazy! Grab the ready made one that you use for the face.  Try to scrub your hands with that mixture in circular motions and also concentrate on the knuckles and the nails, skin around the nails, palm and area between the fingers.
You can put your hands in that lime juice and water mixture again to wash off the scrub before actually washing them with the clean water. This was just to save water!!  :D

Step 5- Now your hands are clean and devoid of dead skin cells so, it’s time to give them some nourishment. Take your hand cream/lotion and massage gently on the nails, cuticles and the hands. This will make them soft and hydrated and also will further soften the dry cuticles.

Step 6- Use a cuticle pusher to push back the cuticle, don’t cut them. Pushing them back is the best thing that we could do with them! You can also use cuticle oil before doing this but here as you have soaked them in the warm water, scrubbing and applied a cream, they are already soft so could be pushed back easily!

Step 7- We are almost done, Now your hands and nails would be clean and nourished. It’s time for the buffing now, buffing means to polish the nail surface to make it smooth and shiny by gently scraping it with a buffer block. You can also use Buffer sticks. Too much buffing can make your nails weak so try to do it very gently and not too often. After the buffing you will see that your nail are extremely smooth, if you want you can use a shine stick. Which when you rub on the nail surface within a couple of seconds gives a shine like that of a top coat.

Step 8- Time for the base coat base coat if used on its own with out the nail polish gives shine and strength to the nails and if you wish, you can leave it till here or you can apply a fresh nail polish in your favorite shade or the one that goes well with the dress, if you have done this at home manicure for some special occasion. Always apply a base coat and a top coat to protect your nails and to help your manicure last longer.

If you wish you can decorate your nails or do some nails arts.

Wasn’t that simple and easy to do, so try it at home and see the results in the form of sparkling hands and beautiful nails!! :D
