Natural Remedies to treat dry hair

Guest Post: Monissha

We all want lustrous, soft and silky hair, Aren't we????
But these days busy schedule, pollution and lack of care can make our hair lifeless, dull and dry. Dry hair can cause hair more prone to breakage moreover; it makes them unmanageable and frizzy.
Causes of dry hair- Before jumping into the treatment lets know what makes our hair dry. Over exposure to sun light and winds, Chlorinated water  present in the swimming pools, chemical treatment like perming, hair relaxer etc and also using hard or hot water for washing hair are the major factors which causes dry hair. Your diet can also be one of the cause. Avocado hair packs are good to treat dry hair.
To treat dry hair all we have to do is to provide them adequate amount of hydration. Below I have complied natural remedies to take care of our dry and damaged hair. Some of them are tried and tested too. So, what are you waiting for take some time to follow these and make your hair shiny, soft and silky.

Hot oil Massage – This has been one remedies that has been advised to us by our mothers and grandmothers. Take any oil that you use for your hair however, using coconut oil or olive oil can be the best. Just heat the oil and then gently apply it in the scalp with a little massaging with the finger tips. This also cures the split ends. See: The best anti split ends shampoos in India
Then take a towel and dip it in hot water, drench it and put it on your head like a turban to cover all the hair. Take it off after 15-20 minutes and then shampoo your hair.

Yoghurt- I think, yoghurt is a miraculous product and proves beneficial if you use it externally or ingest it. It has hydrating properties and moreover it also helps treat dandruff. All you have to do is to take a small bowl full of yoghurt and then apply it on the scalp and the hair till the ends and then massage lightly and tie all your hair in a bun. Let it sit in for about 15- 20 minutes and then wash off with cold water.

Coconut milk – Coconut milk is has also got the nourishing and hydrating properties too. It is very easy to use. Take adequate quantity of coconut milk and then apply it on the hair till the tips. Let it sink in for 15- 20 minutes and wash after that with cold water.

Apart from these treatments always make sure that you should follow a healthy diet and try not to use blow dryers a lot and that too and high temperatures and even if you have to use dryers and strengtheners then, make sure that you apply some heat protectant before styling your hair.
Always wear a hair cap to cover your hair while swimming so as to protect your hair from chlorinated water.
Use mild shampoos. Alkaline shampoos can make you hair more dry.

Try and follow this and  see the results yourself.
