Home facial : Do facials at home

Due to hectic work schedule, stress, pollution etc our skin tends to lose its glow and beauty. Facials are the easiest way to pamper your skin and to get that healthy glow. They help in stimulating the blood circulation, toning, firming and improving skin tone.

You might be aware that facials can also be done at the comfort of your home which saves both time and money.
You can to this twice or once in a month or weekly (for very oily skin).
So, here are the 5 DIY steps for home facials.
Cleansing
Cleansing is the first thing that we do in the morning, before make up and before going to bed. It is an important part of our skin care regimen. So, first properly cleanse your skin with a good cleanser depending on your skin type. If you have sensitive skin go for a mild cleanser, people with oily skin should not use oily or cleansers with alcohols.

You can also use some natural cleansers available in your kitchen such as milk. Milk is the most effective cleanser and is suitable for all skin type. You can use a cotton ball dipped in cold milk with a pinch of salt for cleansing your face. If you have dry skin then, you can go for yogurt and honey mixed in equal parts. For cleaning oily skin, chickpea powder which is commonly known as Besan can be used mixed with cold milk and a pinch of turmeric (optional).  Take the paste in your palm, apply on your face and massage gently, wash off with plain water.

Exfoliation
Cleansing is followed by exfoliation. Exfoliation is the process with you you get rid of the upper dead skin layer and the fresh young layer is exposed. Exfoliation helps in making our skin look brightened, smooth and radiant. Scrubbing is one of the common and inexpensive way of exfoliation.

There are many scrubs available in the market that you can use or you can make one by mixing finely powdered sugar with honey. If you have sensitive skin then you have to be extra careful while exfoliating as it can lead to irritation and redness. Most importantly. Be gentle to your facial skin, our motive is to remove the dead skin layer, not harming the new delicate layer underneath.

Steaming
Steaming is an another important step in facial which helps in deep cleansing of the skin. It removes dirt and other impurities and opens up the pores.
Steaming is really good for those who have oily or combination skin, they can go for steaming for good 7-8 minutes while people with dry skin or sensitive can only do it for 2-3 minutes. While steaming, you can also add some herbs like chamomile, lavender etc.  Rinse your face with cold water after steaming to tone the skin and close the pores.
Face mask
Once you are done with steaming you can apply your favorite facial mask again depending on your skin type. Face masks further tone, firm and brightens your skin.
You can use any readymade face mask available in the market or you can make one at home.

Once you have applied the facial mask/ packs evenly on your face you can also use cucumber slice on your eyes or you can also put cotton balls dipped in chilled rose water that can be kept in the refrigerator before hand. Put the cucumber slices or the cotton balls on your eyes and relax or lie down. This gives relief to the tired and puffy eyes and brings brightness. Face masks should be removed or rinsed after 15- 20 minutes.
Moisturization
Always moisturize your skin after a facial mask irrespective of your skin type. Dot the moisturizer all over the skin and gently massage the skin in upward direction. This completes the home facial.

If you have oily skin go for oil free moisturizer
Lastly I believe, getting a healthy and glowing is not an expensive or time consuming tasks as it may seems however, all it takes is a little bit care of the skin properly, Exercising at least 3 days a week, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and most importantly, eating a balanced diet.
