Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation Review

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation review

Hello everyone,
After hearing so many good things about Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation, I finally bought it. In fact, I got it before the Garnier BB cream but it was still under testing phase as I like Tinted moisturizer and BB creams more than the foundation. Due to which, it took a little longer to get a chance to use it properly, before posting a review on it

Price: 575 INR for 30 ml Shade: @ude Beige No 3.5

Experience: This Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation comes in a glass bottle with a pump dispenser on the top. I like products with pump dispensers as they are more convenient to use and more hygienic than there jar versions.
I have seen this foundation few months ago, when I visited the Maybelline counter. The lady at the counter asked me to try it but I skipped, this thinking it would be the same as the Maybelline Dream Mousse matte Foundation which was really hard to blend. A friend of mine had that and she hated the blending part.
Anyways! the pump dispenser that I was talking about doesn't remain open but once you rotate it clockwise, the pump closes and the product will not come out, that makes it travel friendly and will not squirt product in your handbag, when not asked for. :D

I got the shade in @ude Beige which is categorized as Light 3.5. It is shade suitable for those of us whose complexion is between fair to medium like me though that's a different thing that you have to check which shade is a close match if not exact!
I find this shade to be a tad light for my complexion may be that's due to the absence of any yellow undertones to it, if it would have been a shade yellow then would have been an exact match. :/
The brand says that it has an air whipped formula which I agree it has and feels very light on the skin.
For the first time when I took the same amount that I usually take, in case of other foundations, but that was way too much..  trust me, you will need only half of the quantity you normally take. It gives a medium coverage which is build-able like any other foundation but then it may end up looking cakey. A little bit can go a long way with this foundation and blends effortlessly is the highlight of this product!!
It blends so nicely, just like you are dreaming!!lol :D
I must say this year Maybelline kept on showering us with new products at affordable price and great quality, throughout the year though hyped Maybelline BB cream which was tricky to blend which isn't the case with Dream liquid mousse.

It has a decent staying power of 6-7 hours on me I wore it around mid day and it was still there when I got home at 6 in the evening. It makes skin smoother than before by filling in fine lines and pores. I won't call that pore less finish can be delivered only by few foundation in fact, we can get a poreless finish by applying foundation the right way with most of our foundations as well!!!

I realized that it is water proof, if not rubbed vigorously.. which in anyways no one would do!! In order to remove every trace of this foundation, makeup remover is a must have!!
I have combination skin and I noticed that the areas blessed with oil wells have become greasy after 3 hours for which I had to use my compact to mattify.
I guess it is more suitable for the normal to dry skin types but not for oily skin types. As I said I have oily nose and chin and rest normal, due to which it was able to perform well!
I have not observed any skin irritation and it hasn't break me out yet (I acne prone skin).

Based on the experience, I have summed up major pros and cons below:

Pros of Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation
  • It is easily available online, counters and drugstores.
  • Travel friendly and pump dispenser makes it convenient to use.
  • Ingredients mentioned on the bottle itself.
  • Blends effortlessly and blending the foundation when you are in a hurry can be time consuming.
  • It makes skin smooth and poreless by filling fine lines and few pores
  • Leight weight formula that doesn't fell heavy or cakey, if applied in decent amount.
  • Less is more for this foundation as a little can go a long way.
  • Staying power is 6-7 hours (depends on the weather as well)
  • Gives a medium coverage without looking cakey
  • Safe to use on the acne prone skin as it is dermatologically tested
  • Coverage is build-able.
  • It can be good for normal to dry skinned people
Cons of Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation
  • Areas of the face which are oily tend to get shiny and greasy after a couple of hours, so a compact touch up would be required.
  • It is definitely not for very oily skinned beauties.
  • I wish these foundations could have more yellow thank pink tones as then they would have been an exact match for most of the Indian skin tones.

My Take: It is indeed a very good foundation in the price range which blends smoothly and effortlessly to deliver an airbrush finished look. Dry to normal skinned ones may like this and even combination but not for oily skinned beauties.Apart from that, I wish they could have been more yellow so as to suit most of the Indian skin tones in a better way!

  3. lovely review, i'd tried the same shade and it blended like a dream, as you mentioned. The only trouble was about half an hour of walking around with it, I could feel my cheeks getting oily. Then I didn't purchase it. Otherwise, everything was great about this foundation :)

I have noticed that Except for the Lakme, other brands do not have proper shades that can suit most of the indian skin tones. Moreover, these shades have oink undertones most of the times rather than yellow.

  7. I got this for my mother last year but I dont think shes used it yet even! I've heard a lot about the texture, smooth and good medium coverage but not so mattifying. I guess, some powder can fix it!

    1. Yes Sharylnn, It is not that matte finish that is why i always put compact over it. Anyways i have to use compacts on my combination skin to look matte when i am going out.

  10. Awww thank you for this review Niesha. Can't tell you how many times I hav added this to cart and then dropped it. Had read one -ve review that it breaks out and transfers to clothes. 1. Try it Gagan, hope you like it.:)
It has not break me out yet and it is not transferable, in fact, washing with plain water also does not take it off. It does makes the skin pore less but for oily skin a compact is needed.
