Maybelline BB Cream in Radiance Review

Maybelline BB Cream in Radiance
Hello Everyone,
Today, I will be reviewing the much hyped Maybelline BB cream. Actually, it is my second tube as I used up the first one before I started blogging .. :) so got this a week ago and decided to do the review. When Maybelline BB cream was lauched a couple of months ago there was this hype about BB creams in India and everyone was trying to grab it. At the same time, I also did and based on my experience, I will share my views about this product.
By the way now we have even the powder creams like Glam up.

First of all, i would like to share a brief info about what BB creams are:
BB creams are commonly known as blemish balms. They were initially used to help the surgery patients to soothe the sensitive skin and provide a lighter coverage.
It gained lime light when the korean actresses started using them. They are made with different formulations such as anti ageing, brightening, even toning the skin etc.

Maybelline BB creams are available in three shades: @Nude, Radiance and beige.
 I got in Radiance 02.

Price- 199 INR
Quantity- 18 ml
Ingredients of Maybelline BB cream are listed on the pack.

What the company claims- Maybelline BB cream 8 in 1 skin transformer with Micro-minerals
Infused with a blend of good ingredients to deliver 8 skin transforming benefits:-
  • Instantly brightens: Brightens skin to one tone lighter.
  • Protects with SPF 21/ PA+++: Has a smooth, light & non-greasy texture.
  • Evens tone: Hides imperfections & corrects uneven skin tone.
  • Hydrates: Moisturises all day (8 hours).
  • Conceals: Perfectly conceals flaws, blemishes & redness.
  • Smoothes: Instantly makes skin softer & smoother.
  • Mattifies: Controls shine all day.
  • Freshens: Resists sweat & sebum for 5 hours.

How to apply Maybelline BB cream use- Just squeeze out a little BB Cream then apply it on your forehead, chin and cheeks. Spread it all over your face with short, quick strokes. Finally, you could also apply a little Kajal and Lip Balm for a great natural look. (This is what the company says.)
My experience- When I first saw it I was super excited to try it. I took a pea sized quantity and dotted it all over my face and blended it. I was so shocked to see  how ashy my face has started looking.. but still I blended it and after some blending, the ashyness was gone and it looked dewy.. not ashy,,
As I dont need much coverage, it lightly covered the marks due to occasional pimples. I have oily skin so had to use a compact above it to get the matte finish.
I have used it for a month and it did not clog my pores or broke me out and yes it is sweat resistent to some extent.

Based on my experience, here are the pros and cons of Maybelline BB cream:
Pros
  • It is easily available online and in shops.
  • Packaging is okay and its good that it is in tube and we don't have to dig in our finger, everytime we use it.
  • It is very light on the skin and texture is also good.
  • It does brightened my complexion without making it chalky.
  • It also does moisturises my skin however conceals only lightly.
  • It can easily replace tinted moisturisers, if you find the right shade.
  • It has SPF21 which is good for the skin.
  • It is sweat resistent but to some extent.
Cons
  • Limited shades are available and to choose the right shade can be quite a task.
  • It only gives light coverage.
  • Quantity is less as compared to the price.
  • The claim that it controls shine all day is not true.
  • Oily skinned girls may have to use a  compact over it.
Ratings- 3.75 out of 5 Get it from HERE
My take- Those of us who are looking for a decently priced BB cream that can provide light coverage and replace the tinted moisturizers (if the right shade is found then) go for it and give it a try. However, all the claims made by the company may or may not be true depending on the skin type, texture and whether conditions. For oily skinned girls, a touch up of compact is required to keep the shine away.

    1. haan vanu. thats right. this is the reason na. They have limited shades to selected and hard to find the right shade. somehow it does not look ashy on me.. probably the shade matched thats why... :) coz if the base doesnot matches the actual skin color, then its good for nothing regardless of the price.... :) :)

  9. my pleasure.. :)... i agree bb creams gives very little coverage.. it would be good for those who use tinted moisturisers and do not need much coverage, that too if they find the right shade out of the limited options provided.

    1. Hi Aarti sorry for late reply.
Let me tell you the difference Maybelline one gives a little more coverage and the garnier on is better for oily skin with lesser coverage.
I think you can go for the garnier one , it is available in only one shade but as you are not dusky so it will suit your complexion.
You can try the garnier trial pack :)
